Happy 90th birthday to Thelma Cook Bay’s husband, Hubert Bays, March 5. He is from Hazard, but they lived in Florida for about 40 years until moving to South Carolina to be near his daughter, Mary Ruth, a few years ago. Thelma has a daughter, Mabel Faye Bentley Carroll, who lives in Jensen Beach, Fla. Thelma also worked at Hoover’s Department Store for several years. Mary Ruth is planning a birthday get together for him, and is inviting family and friends. Cowan
Robby Brown stated that this has been the coldest winter in Myrtle Beach in years. He plans to visit family in Kentucky this spring.

The Pine Mountain Chapter DAR minutes, Feb. 8, read as follows: The Pine Mountain Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution Dec. 2010 and Jan. 2011 regular meetings were cancelled due to snow and bad roads.
Regent Marsha Banks called a special work meeting. We met at the Harry M. Caudill Library on Jan. 27, at 12 p.m. The purpose of the meeting was to work on our chapter bylaws. Marsha reported that she and Ann had completed our master questionnaire and all reports were in the mail and on time. Members present were Marsha Banks, Mahala Frazier, Ann Reynolds, Sally Caudill, Shirley Whitaker, Merlene Day and Rhonda Cromer.
Marsha advised an offi- cer change to add Merlene as registrar along with Linda Lucas. Marsha appointed a chapter bylaws committee. They were Regent Marsha Banks, Stella Elam, Merlene Day, Ann Reynolds and Mahala Frazier.
We selected delegates to the 115 KSDAR State Conference to be held at the Radisson Hotel in Lexington, March 25, 26 and 27. Delegates appointed were Marsha Banks, Ann Reynolds, Kaye Combs Moore, Sally Caudill, Mahala Frazier and Merlene Day. Rhonda made a motion to accept nominated delegates and Shirley seconded.
We voted to have meetings in June and July this year and all following years, dates to be announced. We voted to change the dates of several meetings. February’s ‘Valentine Sweetheart Luncheon’ will be held Feb. 10 at the Pine Mtn. Grill at 12 p.m. We will have a special call work meeting Feb. 11 at Harry M. Caudill Library genealogy room for the first reading of our chapter bylaws. March meeting will be March 22 at Dairy Queen at 5 p.m. We will have the second reading of our chapter bylaws.
Our first meeting of the new bylaws committee met at Pizza Hut, Feb. 8, 2011 at 4:30 p.m., to formulate a draft of our chapter bylaws.
Marsha completed our first newsletter entitled, ‘What’s Been Happening and What to Expect.’ She emailed or mailed it to all members. She informed us that we have been invited to a Valentine luncheon, Feb. 14, at 11:30 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall. The luncheon is being given by ladies of our community and Whitesburg ARH with Kathleen Caizzi as guest speaker.
Our March 22 meeting at Dairy Queen at 5 p.m. will be ‘Honoring the Future’ with Mahala Frazier and guests. Mahala always presents a very informative and enjoyable program.
Marsha has promised that our April meeting will be a lot of fun, she will tell us what later. Meeting adjourned.
