Ice fishers have good catch

Haley Banks celebrated her 11th birthday with some of her school friends: Abby Meade, Jenna Roark, Hailey Cornett, Madison Crase, and Brooke Sturgill. The party’s theme was ‘Breaking Dawn.’ They had a great time. Most of the girls spent the night and were still up at 3 a.m. Haley’s cousin, sixyear old Kyle Galer, called and sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to her.

Nicole Banks, a senior at LCC, has signed to run cross- country and track with the University of Pikeville. Both she and Haley have a 4.0 average.

Kenny Harvey and his grandson, Peyton, had a good adventure at Fishtrap Lake. They caught a lot of fish, though they had to break through the ice to get them. While there, they saw two majestic eagles sitting on a treetop and later flying over the lake. They also saw five graceful deer swimming across the lake. Great lifetime memories for a grandchild.

Carol Caudill and Linda Lucas of Cowan visited with Pat and Marilyn Banks, first at their place in Somerset, then on to Columbus, Ind. Their granddaughter, Mattie Handlon, was with them in Somerset. Cowan

On their way to Columbus they stopped for a visit with Gwen Handlon in Milton. They visited, shopped, and had a good time. They also visited Marilyn’s mother, Loretta Pope.

Best wishes to Carol Caudill on her recovery from an accident on a hike to Cane Creek by way of the Rockcastle River. Her daughter, Jill, is staying a week to help her recuperate. Her granddaughter, Cara, also spent the weekend.

Rusty and Tori Akers, Callie and Ella of Talbot, Tenn., attended the UK and Tennessee game at Thompson Arena in Knoxville, Tenn. These transplanted Kentuckians wore their UK shorts and were thrilled with UK’s win.
