Ida Mae Halcomb, 79, dies




Funeral services for Ida Mae Halcomb, 79, will be held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday), April 18, at Everidge Funeral Home in Whitesburg. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.

She died April 15 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born in Letcher County to the late Willey and Bertha Gibson Maxie, she was the widow of Walter Halcomb, and a sister of the late Rosania Sexton.

She was a member of the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church, and attended Forgiven Ministries in Whitesburg.

Surviving are three daughters, Bertha Mae Sexton and husband Kenneth, Brenda Sue Halcomb, and Markie Sue Kilgore and husband Charles, all of Whitesburg; two sons, Herbert Halcomb and wife Novella of Thornton, and Hershel Halcomb and wife Debbie of Whitesburg; a sister, Dosie York of Sandlick; five grandchildren, ten stepgrandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
