— Martha Jane Potter Elementary held its literacy night at the school on March 2. Entertainment was by the employees of the Letcher County Public Library dressed as Dr. Seuss’s The Cat In the Hat and Thing 1 and Thing 2 with a reading of Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss. Margaret Hammonds of the Imagination Library registered children for the program. Once registered, children living in Letcher County receive a free book in the mail each month until they are five years old. Pictured is Margaret Hammonds and Weston Sexton, 2, son of Michael and Jamie Sexton of Whitesburg. Weston enjoys receiving his Imagination Library books in the mail, and is excited for his parents to read each new book to him. The Imagination Library in Letcher County is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Whitesburg.
