Imagination Library expands

JERRY ISON

JERRY ISON

The Imagination Library kickoff was held in October for the areas of Isom, Blackey, Letcher, and Jeremiah during the Kids Day Event on the former Calvary College Campus at Letcher.

The 400th child, Jerry Ison, was registered during this event. Jerry is a son of Teresa and Eddie Ison of Blackey, and is enrolled in the Blackey Head Start program. Every child who registered received the book, “The Little Engine That Could.” Forty- two children were registered during the event.

The Imagination Library provides free books for children under five years of age who live in the selected service areas through the Dollywood Foundation.

For more information about the Imagination Library or how to enroll your child, contact Margaret Hammonds at 633-8200 or Barbara Ison at 634-2106. Applications can be picked up at all locations of Whitaker Bank and Community Trust Bank throughout Letcher County.

The Imagination Library is sponsored locally by the Rotary Club of Whitesburg.
