The Entrepreneurship for the Public Good program at Berea College is running a 20-day studentlead Social Local Mobile (SOLOMO) awareness campaign launched on June 3. A SOLOMO marketing campaign is a grassroots effort to help independent business owners increase their sales through the use of social media and mobile technology.
The students are looking at social networking sites and user-generated reviews of eastern Kentucky businesses on sites like Yelp, TripAdvisor, and Google+. EPG students will help business owners learn about using their social media presence and how user-generated reviews can drive business.
Lisa Vaughn, founder of Gladiator Law Marketing, LLC, and the EPG students will host a workshop on Monday, July 1, in Kentucky River Area Development District office at 917 Perry Park Road in Hazard. They will discuss Buy Local and SOLOMO campaigns. There will be two sessions, one at 2 p.m. and one at 6 p.m.
