Indian Summer Folk Festival set

The second annual Indian Summer Folk Festival will be held October 5, 6 and 7 at the Little Shepherd Amphitheatre in Jenkins.

“We are pleased with the success of our first Folk Festival last year and we want to make this an annual event,” said Don Amburgey, president of the Cumberland Mountain Arts & Crafts Council in Jenkins, which is sponsoring the event. “Our objective is to preserve and celebrate our proud mountain heritage through arts and crafts. Many of our artisans who participated last year will return and we hope to continue building on our theme.”

The vendors will be open from 10 to 4 a.m. daily and there will be live music on the stage all day Oct. 6. “We will have food booths but you won’t find hot dogs or hamburgers,” said Amburgey, “you will find traditional mountain foods however. We will have all hand-crafted items for sale and numerous demonstrations and exhibits to relive the days of yesteryear when our elders and our ancestors lived off the land. Folks are encouraged to dress in period apparel.”
