Indictments name 17

Seventeen people are named in 19 indictments in Letcher Circuit Court.

In one indictment, Mark Can Bentley, 39, of 60 Mosquito, McRoberts, is charged with tampering with physical evidence, two counts of third-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), two counts of first-degree prescription controlled substance not in original container, buy/possess drug paraphernalia, trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance (heroin, first offense), possession of marijuana and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

Bentley is charged in a second indictment with second-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified), first-degree prescription controlled substance not in original container, buy/ possess drug paraphernalia, trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in a controlled substance (heroin, first offense), possession of marijuana and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

Others indicted are:

• Steve Allen Tackett, 49, of 588 Brushy Fork, Dorton, who is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense, methamphetamine), four counts of convicted felon in possession of a firearm (handgun), third-degree use of weapon of mass destruction, theft by unlawful taking of auto ($10,000 or more, but under $1,000,000), first-degree criminal mischief, seconddegree escape, first-degree fleeing or evading police, possession of marijuana, use/possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree assault (assault on police officer) and theft by unlawful taking (firearm AR 15).

Jenkins Police Chief Jim Stephens testified in the case.

• Robbie Collins, 25, of 855 Ramey Fork, Jenkins, who is charged with second-degree escape, tampering with prisoner monitoring device, and theft by unlawful taking (over $1,000 less than $10,000).

Letcher Sheriff’s Deputy Ben Fields testified in the case.

• Jeffery Lyn Craft, 63, of 84 Henry Hutton Road, Neon, who is charged with first- degree possession of controlled substance ( methamphetamine) fourth-degree assault ( domestic violence), convicted felon in possession of a firearm ( sawed-off shotgun), first-degree wanton endangerment and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

• Brittany Looney, 33, of 8050 Hwy. 931 N, Whitesburg, who is charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance ( methamphetamine), use/possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree possession of controlled substance, and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

• Danny Walker, 35, of 45 Store Hill, Jenkins, who is charged with third-degree burglary.

• Jared Ratliff, 29, of 50 Squirrel Drive, Jenkins, who is charged with second-degree assault.

• James Thomas Ratliff, Jr., 53, of 203 # 1 Hill, Jenkins, who is charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance ( methamphetamine), use/possession of drug paraphernalia, and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

• Billy L. Morris, 66, of 1858 Big Willard Rd., Busy, who is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment and second-degree assault.

Kentucky State Trooper Tyler Smith testified in the case.

• David Fugate, 63, of 1097 Hwy. 3410, Mayking, who is charged with first-degree wanton endangerment.

Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines testified in the case.

• Harlan Collins, 24, of 62 Possum Road, Neon, who is charged with five counts of criminal mischief, second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), resisting arrest, and menacing.

Kentucky State Trooper Tyler Smith testified in the case.

• Lana Evelyn Kincer, 42, of 358 Pine Creek Road, Mayking, who is charged with first-degree possession of controlled substance ( methamphetamine), use/possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified), third-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified) and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

In a second indictment, Kincer is charged with second-degree escape and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

• David Paul Johnson, 47, of 146 Libby Lane, Jenkins, who is charged with second-degree assault, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

• Bobbie Nicole Stamper, 39, of 1444 Hwy. 1862 , Thornton, who is charged with third-degree assault (assault on corrections officer), third-degree criminal mischief, first-degree wanton endangerment ( police officer), and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

• Billy Smith, 42, of 13195 Hwy. 588, Blackey, who is charged with receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking (over $1,000 but under $10,000).
