Indictments returned




The Letcher County Grand Jury has charged five men in seven indictments, including a Whitesburg man named in three true bills.

John Tate Maggard, 23, of 51 Peach Drive, is accused in the three indictments of possessing forged checks in the amounts of $600, $900, and $200, drawn on the Community Trust Bank checking account of Larry and Hester Maggard. The grand jury says he cashed the $600 check on August 18. He is also charged in each indictment with being a persistent felony offender.

Letcher County Deputy Michael Burton testified in all three cases.

Also indicted by the grand jury are: and terroristic threatening.

Polly, 34, of 281 Goose Creek Road, Apt. 102, Neon, is charged with injuring Stacy Polly by hitting her with his fists, causing abrasions and broken ribs, and cutting and stabbing her with a metal fork on August 27. He is also accused of threatening Stacy Polly.

Letcher County Deputy Michael Burton testified in the case.

• James R. Collins — flagrant non-support.

Collins, 44, of Black Bottom Road, Jeremiah, is charged with owing $10,500 in child support for the period ending Sept. 30. He is also charged with being a persistent felony offender.

• Jason Combs — flagrant nonsupport.

Combs, 26, of 101 W. 5th St., Millersburg, is charged with owing $29,417.24 in child support for the period ending Sept. 30.

• Anthony Bailey — flagrant non-support.

Bailey, 41, of 129 Abner Branch, Whitesburg, is charged with owing $21,487.18 in child support for the period ending Sept. 30.
