Inez Hampton, granddaughter Sarah share birthday July 5

July is finally here and the kids have been excited about the upcoming activities and fireworks.

Happy birthdays go out to Inez Hampton and her granddaughter, Sarah Hampton of Eolia, and to Jimmy Barger of Bardstown, all three on July 5.

The kids have been enjoying lots of sunshine during summer vacation. Most of the neighborhood kids have been going to the city pool daily. The temperatures began to drop from our average high of 92 to 69 and 87, giving much needed relief. It had become nice and breezy and the thunderstorms subsided.

The New Beginning Baptist Church is selling the property that its current church building on Boston Road sits on and is moving to a new building on Hubbards Lane soon. The building on Hubbards Lane has 11 acres for the children to enjoy during Vacation Bible School.

Bernard, Bradi, John, Jerrica and I have been attending Sunday morning services there and on June 29 my friend, Diane Thompson, said she wanted to meet us there. Of course that was great and she gave her life over to the Lord at the end of the service. We missed her Sunday night, however the evening was a pretty good turnout. It reminds me a lot of the Eolia Baptist Mission back home.

Gas went down to $3.81 and then on the first climbed to $3.89. The rise in prices hasn’t caused any drop in visitors and tourism is flourishing as the free concerts are being held at the J. Dan Talbot Amphitheatre. Goose Creek Symphony played June 16. Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out for me to attend. Restless Heart and Herman’s Hermits are scheduled to be next and Andrew Scott Newton will be opening for both bands. Andrew is a local musician and I have been lucky enough to hear him in concert. He gives a great performance and my favorite of his originals is “I Could Be the One”.

Brandon Benelli and Hannah Mattingly will be married August 8. Friends and family are invited to the event, which will take place at the Old Kentucky Home Park.

Open house at the Bardstown Primary will be coming up within the next two weeks. Bradi and John have received their letters from their teachers for the upcoming school year.

Prayer list this week includes Kaylee Greer, James Hardesty, June Clark, Judy Branham, Geraldine Burton, Faith Hall, and Diane Thompson.
