Inmate in county jail tests positive for coronavirusFree Access

An inmate in the Letcher County Jail has tested positive for Covid-19 for the first time, Jailer Bert Slone announced Thursday evening.

Slone said the jail has more than 130 inmates, and “seven or eight” were exposed to the inmate after he was brought in Wednesday night. Slone said he has isolated everyone who has been in close contact with the inmate.

The inmate tested positive in a 15-minute antigen test. The jail is still awaiting results of a 48-hour test to confirm the results.
