Inmates charged in jail meth cases

The Letcher Grand Jury has charged five county jail inmates on several charges, including the use of meth, assault and wanton endangerment. Indicted are:

Donald Reed Shepherd, 24, of 6813 Ky. Hwy. 15 North, Whitesburg, who is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), use/possession of drug paraphernalia, and first-degree promoting contraband, when he introduced dangerous contraband into the Letcher County Jail.

In a separate indictment, Shepherd is accused of first-degree complicity with Jonathan Charles Ramey in trafficking a controlled substance (methamphetamine), and first-degree complicity in wanton endangerment with Jonathan Charles Ramey in creating a danger of death or serious injury to Letcher County Jail inmate Marvin Kidd, by providing a dangerous quantity of methamphetamine to Kidd, who overdosed and required emergency medical treatment.

Jonathan Charles Ramey, 35, of 30 East Street, Whitesburg, who is accused of first-degree complicity with Donald Reed Shepherd in trafficking a controlled substance ( methamphetamine), first-degree complicity in wanton endangerment with Donald Reed Shepherd in creating a danger of death or serious injury to Letcher County Jail inmate Marvin Kidd by providing a dangerous quantity of methamphetamine to Kidd, who overdosed and required emergency medical treatment, and being a persistent felony offender.

In a separate indictment, Ramey is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, first offense), use/possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree promoting contraband, when he introduced dangerous contraband into the Letcher County Jail, and being a persistent felony offender.

Jake Lucas, 32, of 170 Bill Cornett Rd., Whitesburg, who is charged with second-degree assault. The grand jury says he caused serious injury to Letcher County Jail inmate Homer Boggs.

Clint Collins, 42, of 39 Cinnamon Drive, Whitesburg, who is charged with first- degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, first offense), use/possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree promoting contraband in the Letcher County Jail (methamphetamine), and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

Marvin Lee Kidd, 44, of Bush Drive, Whitesburg, and 185 Big Elk Drive, Jenkins, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, first offense), use/possession of drug paraphernalia, first-degree promoting contraband in the Letcher County Jail (methamphetamine), and being a first-degree persistent felony offender.

Letcher County Jailer Bert Slone testified in the cases.

Others named in indictments are:

• Ethan Daniel Lewis, 19, of 54 Frazier Ave., Whitesburg, who is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine, first offense), third-degree burglary, use/ possession of drug paraphernalia, second-degree criminal mischief, theft by unlawful taking under $500, and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

Lewis is accused of damaging property belonging to Summit City Bar and Lounge of Whitesburg when he entered the premises with intent to commit a crime, and with taking personal property owned by Summit City Bar and Lounge.

Whitesburg Police Officer Jordan Clemons testified in the case.

• Benjamin Taylor, 29, of 1433 Hwy. 805, Neon, who is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid or assistance, no/expired Kentucky registration receipt, failure of owner to maintain required insurance (first offense), convicted felon in possession of a handgun, and first-degree criminal mischief when he damaged the Ford F150 truck belonging to Taylor Wright.

Kentucky State Trooper Anthony Trotter testified in the case.

• Robert Leon Johnson, 46, c/o Elbert Walters, Manix Drive, Isom, who is charged with complicity with Jason Michael Lucas in receiving a Honda fourwheeler stolen from Christina Gray and family and being a persistent felony offender.

Kentucky State Trooper Tyler Smith testified in the case.

• Jason Michael Lucas, 40, of 283 Pistol City Road, Whitesburg, who is charged with complicity with Robert “Bobby” Leon Johnson in receiving a Honda fourwheeler stolen from Christina Gray and family.

Kentucky State Trooper Anthony Trotter testified in the case.

• Kimberly Ann McIntire, 52, also known as Kimberly Ann Couch and Kimberly Ann Bates, of 266 Kona, Whitesburg, 1430 Ky. Hwy. 1862, Whitesburg, and 183 Ky. Hwy. 931, Whitesburg, who is charged with first-degree bail jumping for failing to appear in Letcher Circuit Court in connection with a charge of having committed a felony and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

In a second indictment, McIntire is charged with first-degree bail jumping for failing to appear in Letcher Circuit Court in connection with a charge of having committed a felony and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

In a third indictment, McIntire is charged with first-degree bail jumping for failing to appear in Letcher Circuit Court in connection with a charge of having committed a felony and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

In a fourth indictment, McIntire is charged with first-degree bail jumping for failing to appear in Letcher Circuit Court in connection with a charge of having committed a felony and being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

Seven people are charged with flagrant nonsupport of their minor children. They are:

Rayen D. Walters, 40, of 1506 Lancaster Road, Richmond, who is charged in two indictments. In one of the indictments, he is also charged with being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

Bobby Joe Belcher, 42, of 3160 Main St., Lot #26, Stamping Ground, and 109 Morning Glory Lane, McRoberts, who is also charged with being a second-degree persistent felony offender.

Joshua Lee Profitt, 38, of P.O. Box 114, 4770 Ky. Hwy. 91 South, Whitesburg, who is charged in two indictments.

Marlana Lewis, 25, of 18461 Ky. Hwy. 522, Cumberland.

Adam Linvel Isaac, 38, of 178 Alaska Ave., Apt. 211, Whitesburg.

Michael Gibson, 33, of 2777 Ky. Hwy. 1148, Isom.

Michelle Brashears, 34, of 291 Kingdom Come Creek, Whitesburg.

Monica Adams of the Letcher County Division of Child Support Enforcement testified in the cases.
