Isom man gets year in prison in trafficking plea agreement



An Isom man was ordered to serve one year in prison after pleading guilty to drug trafficking charges.

Mark Wayne Adams, 42, pleaded guilty Feb. 23 to first-degree traffi cking in a controlled substance, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and complicity to second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (firearm enhancement). The crimes were committed on Nov. 30, 2009.

Letcher Circuit Judge Sam Wright sentenced Adams to the prison term on Feb. 25. Wright also ordered Adams to pay $600 in restitution to the Letcher Circuit Clerk’s Office for the Kentucky State Police High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Drug Task Force and ordered him to forfeit $2,504, with 15 percent to the Commonwealth of Kentucky and 85 percent to HIDTA.

Adams was also ordered by Wright to pay fine of $1,000 to the Letcher Circuit Clerk’s Office upon his release from prison.
