J. Thomas ‘J.T.’ Caudill, 76, dies



Funeral services for J. Thomas ‘J.T.’ Caudill, 76, of Little Cowan, will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday) at Little Cowan Primitive Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Caudill Cemetery at Little Cowan.

A son of the late Burnice and Madge Caudill and a brother of the late Freida Caudill Runyons, he was born on Little Cowan. He died September 10 at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tenn.

He was the widower of Eileen Combs Caudill, and after her death married Geneva Carol Caudill, who survives him.

He was a U. S. Marine Corp veteran and served in the South Pacific and as a drill instructor at Paris Island, S.C. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the Little Cowan Primitive Baptist Church and the Fields Masonic Lodge in Cumberland.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Douglas Wayne Caudill, Bessemer, Ala.; a daughter, Sherrie Brown and husband Robert, Jonesborough, Tenn.; a stepdaughter, Jill Kent, Wise, Va.; a sister, Barbara Halcomb and husband Joe, Hamilton, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Donald Runyons, Loveland, Ohio; four grandsons, Jason Caudill, Bessemer, Ala.; Jacob Farley, Corbin; and Bradley Brown and Joseph Brown, both of Jonesborough, Tenn.; four granddaughters, Brooke Caudill and Jesse Caudill, both of Fairhope, Ala., and Cara Eskew and Becca Eskew, both of Wise, Va.; and nieces and nephews, Chris and Kathy Halcomb and children Ed, Ben and Lilly, Richmond; Joanna and Jeff Brewer and son Joey, Mooresville, N.C.; and Terry and Mario Kroner, daughter Brittany and grandson Aavery, Hamilton, Ohio.

Letcher Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.
