Jack Stephens dies at 55




Jack Edward Stephens, 55, of Jenkins, died March 13 at the Markey Cancer Center in Lexington.

Born in Jenkins to the late Jack and Dorothy Hughes Stephens, he was a grandson of the late Woodrow and Ruby Stephens.

He had worked as an electrician throughout the United States, and was a member of American Legion Post 104 of Neon.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly Stephens; two daughters, Rachel Hayes and husband Doug, of Whitesburg, and Latrissa Gibbs, of Jenkins; a son, Dewayne Gibbs and wife Misty, of Goose Creek; five grandchildren, Tanner Blake Edward, McKinlee Hayes, Hailey, Dredon and Kellie; and three brothers, Lee Stephens, of Coeburn, Va., and Mark Stephens and Scott Stephens, both of Georgia.

Funeral services were held on March 16 at Neon First Church of God. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery in Whitesburg.
