James Breeding Jr. was POW in World War II

James Breeding Jr., 84, of Isom, died February 12 at the Eastern Kentucky Veterans Center in Hazard.

A son of the late Jimmy and Vina Caudill Breeding, he was a World War II veteran, and a prisoner of war.

He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, the Whitesburg Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Isom Presbyterian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Shirley Frazier Breeding; a son, Dr. Larry C. Breeding and wife Barbara of Canton, Miss.; two daughters, Sherie Caudill and husband Terry of Mayking, and Jackie Joseph and husband Mike of Smoot Creek; a brother, Vanters Breeding of Indiana; two sisters, Oma Sexton of Bonita Springs, Fla., and Opal Hogg of Isom; nine grandchildren, Hanna, Dustin, Zach, Sarah, Mary, Brad, Todd, Chad and Kim; and two great-grandchildren, Jasmine and Kate.

James was preceded in death by his first wife, Marcelen Sexton; a daughter, Shirley Ann Breeding Sexton; and two brothers, Earnest Breeding and Venson Breeding.

Funeral services were held February 15 at the Isom Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the Herb Maggard Cemetery at Rockhouse.

Letcher Funeral Home had charge of the arrangements.
