James Everidge dies in Michigan

Funeral services were held recently for a Letcher County native who died in Michigan.

Services for James Lloyd Everidge, 83, of South Rockwood, Mich., were held in Flat Rock, Mich., on December 23. Everidge, a native of Seco, died December 20 at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak.

Born to Ishmael and Martha Kiser Everidge, he was married to Mildred Collins Everidge, who survives him. He was employed by Monahan Bronze in Flat Rock until his retirement in 1979, then worked as a maintenance man for Airport High School in Carleton, Mich., until he retired in 1991.

Everidge was a gunner in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 4093 and the American Legion in Carleton. He loved fishing, hunting, and woodworking, making wood model trains.

Everidge was preceded in death by a grandson, James Joseph Everidge; two brothers, William Everidge and Thomas Everidge; and a sister, Venova Lee Adams.

Survivors in addition to his wife include sons James Everidge Jr. and wife Linda of Atlanta, Mich., and David Everidge and wife Karen of Woodhaven, Mich.; three brothers, Ben Arnold Everidge of Louisville, Edwin Earl Everidge of Elizabethtown, and Richard Everidge of Shelbyville; two sisters, Wilma Lucas of Commiskey, Ind., and Eva Davis of Cincinnati; and four grandchildren, Deanna Smith, Debra Yancey, John Everidge, and Andrea Everidge. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild.
