James Johnson dies at 90



James Hillard Johnson, 90, of McRoberts, died October 3 at the Greg and Noreen Wells Hospice Center in Hazard.

A son of the late Joel and Mary Jane Johnson, he was the widower of Emily Anderson Johnson. Five brothers and two sisters also preceded him in death.

Surviving are six sons, James Johnson and wife Celeste, Pastor Freddy Johnson and wife Rhonda, Phillip Johnson and wife Marjorie, and Roy Johnson and wife Debra, all of McRoberts, Carlos Johnson and wife Donna of Dandridge,

Tenn., and Dennis Johnson of Riceville, Tenn.; three daughters, Willene Land and husband Ova of Bean Station, Tenn., Anita Meadors of McRoberts, and Vickie Quillen and husband Pastor Danny Quillen, of Whitaker; a sister, Polly Potter of Jenkins; 32 grandchildren, 53 greatgrandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mr. Johnson were held October 7 at the Johnson family cemetery in McRoberts.

Letcher Funeral Home of Whitesburg had charge of arrangements.
