Janice Sue Bates, 78, died March 21, at her home.
Born in Kona to the late Manus and Irene Ison, she was the widow of Owen Bates.
Mrs. Bates was a sister of the late Michael Dean Ison, and a sister-in-law of the late Jonny Trent and Steve Blair.
She was a cafeteria manager for Randolph Central schools for 20 years, and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends who lovingly called her “Mamaw.”
Mrs. Bates loved challenging her siblings to a game of Sorry or working on a puzzle together. She enjoyed attending her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and activities .
Surviving are her children, Norman Bates, Rick Bates and wife Joni, Lisa Morford and husband Rob, and Steven Bates and wife Carolyn; her grandchildren, Melinda Peed and husband Nathan, Christina Casperson and Aaron Mc- Cambridge, Zachary Bates, Torie Morford and Justin Rice, Erika Morford and Cody Hudson-Ray, Allison Morford and Keslyn Harris, Kelbee Bates, and Kyle Bates and Breanna Leach; her great-grandchildren, Melissa
Rice, James Rice, Gabriel Rice, Serenity Hudson-Ray, Cowen Hudson-Ray, and Belamee Fellers; and her siblings, Jr. Ray Ison and wife Vera, Roger Ison and wife Hazel, Lynette Trent, and Judy Blair.
The family will have a private funeral service and burial due to current regulations in place.
In lieu of flowers, due to allergies, memorials may be made in Mrs. Bates’s name to State of the Heart Hospice, 1350 N. Broadway, Greenville, OH 45331.
