The Jenkins City Council met Monday night for the sole purpose of voting on an ordinance that will allow the city to borrow $175,000 from the Kentucky League of Cities for the completion of the planned Jenkins Civic Center.
The center will be on the site of the new city swimming pool complex near the Jenkins High School football field and will be part of renovations made to the home that once belonged to the Bert Fields family, where the pool will be located.
Mayor Pro-tem Robert “Pud” Schubert conducted the meeting in the absence of Mayor G.C. Kincer, and the four members present — Rebecca Terrill-Amburgey, Kyle Walker, Rick Damron, and Chuck Anderson — voted unanimously to approve the second reading of the ordinance.
Because it was a special meeting and the ordinance was the only item on the agenda, no other business was conducted and the meeting adjourned following the vote.
