Jenkins officer is praised by chief

Jenkins Police Chief Josh Richardson has praised Officer Mike Garmin for his work in a recent traffic stop that led to the arrest of four individuals for possession of methamphetamine.

During the stop, Garmin found 11 grams of methamphetamine and $1,400. All four individuals were charged with trafficking.

Richardson praised Garmin in his April report to the Jenkins CIty Council.Richardson also reported to the council that the Jenkins Police Department answered 43 service calls in March and issued 14 citations and 14 warnings. The department made 12 arrests, including six for warrants, and one from a summons. Four arrests were for driving under the influence, four were drug related, and three for domestic violence. The department answered four collisions with injury calls and three collisions without injury calls and made three motorist assists.

The Jenkins Volunteer Fire Department made 30 calls in March. Fifteen were emergency medical service calls, and six were public service calls. They answered one fire call, six vehicle accidents, and one vehicle fire. It also answered one weather-related incident.
