Jenkins schools now staffed

Jenkins Independent Schools will start the new school year fully staffed and ready to go, according to Superintendent Deborah Watts. Watts said that all administration positions are now filled with Principal David Lee at Jenkins High School, Bill Castle newly hired to serve as assistant principal for both the middle school and McRoberts Elementary, and Stacie Helton Collier serving as elementary principal out of Burdine Elementary.

Eric Ratliff, who served as assistant football coach last year, has been hired as head football coach to replace Larry Maggard, who left to accept a position with the Letcher Central High School football program. Watts said teachers and staff have undergone training and worked hard in preparation for the opening day on August 8 and everyone is excited and ready for a big year. School will begin at Burdine Elementary and McRoberts Elementary at 7:45 a.m. and at the middle high school at 8 a.m.
