Students at Jenkins Elementary School recently celebrated being titled a Kentucky Distinguished school by visiting Dollywood. Approximately 100 students — all students who tested on the 2015 KPREP — were on the trip.
“It was an awesome day of fun and celebrating,“ said third-grade math teacher, Amanda Anderson. “The students worked very hard throughout the year and deserve to be rewarded for their accomplishments.”
Principal Stacy Collier said that JES became data driven last year, helping the school to go beyond its goal of Proficiency. “We revisited our goal daily within the classrooms. Students and staff were all held accountable, and were thrilled to discover that JES fell into the Distinguished category.”
“Hard work pays off,” said Principal Collier, “and we are looking forward to another great year!”
