Jewel Crase dies at 91



Jewel Boggs Crase, 91, died November 11, 2020, at her home on Cowan.

A daughter of the late Harrison Boggs Sr., and Ora Boggs, she was the mother of the late Penny Crase.

Mrs. Crase was also preceded in death by her husband, Dorsey Crase, and twelve siblings.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all. She was known for her fried chicken, gravy and biscuits, made from scratch pies, and so many other special dishes and meals were always delicious and always made with great love.

She was a member of the Old Regular Baptist Church and was baptized as a believer in 1984.

Surviving are three daughters, Mildred Hogg and husband Junie of Whitesburg, Paula Day and husband David of Cowan, and Candace Spangler and husband Craig of Maysville; six grandchildren, April Frazier and husband Brian, Brandi Anderson and husband Kris, Amber Surber and husband Anthony, Allison Maxey and husband Mike, Lindsay Spangler, and Andrew Spangler and wife Cristi; and six great grandchildren, Olivia Frazier, Zoey Frazier, Lillee Hall, Kynslee Surber, Nate Maxey, and Sloane Anderson.

A walk through visitation was held November 14 at Letcher Funeral Home in Whitesburg.
