Jimmie Elswick dies at 83


Funeral services for Jimmie Chandler Elswick, 83, of Hanover, Penn., will be held July 11 (Thursday) at the Jeffrey N. Zumbrun Funeral Home in Eldersburg, Md. Burial with military honors will follow at the Springfield Cemetery.

Born in Dunham to the late Ervin Nelson and Angeline Webb Elswick, he died July 7 at St. Joseph Medical Center.

The widower of Phyllis Jean Wright Elswick, he was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served for four years.

Mr. Elswick was retired from NASA as a communications specialist after 32 years, and had later worked at Boeing for several years.

A member of the Masonic Lodge, he enjoyed watching golf and going to the Westminster Senior Center.

Surviving are three daughters, Jean E. Marks and husband Steven, Wendy L. Sykes, and Gail Green and husband David; a son, Justin A. Elswick and wife Dawn; seven grandchildren, Joshua, Dylan, Zachary, Michael, Sydney, Madelyn, and Shelby; and a greatgranddaughter, Savanna.

Mr. Elswick was preceded in death by seven siblings, Clara Belle Elswick Bell, George Cleatis Elswick, James Curtis Elswick, Henry Carlos Elswick, Carrie Jean Elswick Bevins, Billy Eugene Elswick, and Leonard Omar Elswick.
