Jimmy Lay succumbs at 78



Memorial services for Jimmy Lay, 78, of Jenkins, were held May 29 and May 30 at Millstone Missionary Baptist Church. He died May 24 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

Born in Pine Knot to the late Elbert and Evelyn Lay, he was a brother of the late Ann Vaughn and Margie Craft, and the father-in-law of the late Michael Witt.

He enjoyed sitting on the front porch listening to the radio and waving to his neighbors as they passed.

Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline Craft Lay; three daughters, Linda, Leisa and Theresa; nine grandchildren, Renee, Joey, Charlie, Ryan, Jacqueline, Tyler, Taylor, Brandon and Zachary; four great-grandchildren, Austin, Jalyenah, Izah and Brayden, all of Cincinnati, Oh.; and a brother, Jackie.

Everidge Funeral Home of Whitesburg had charge of arrangements.
