John Gilbert Chilcote dies at 74



Funeral services for John Gilbert Chilcote, 74, of McRoberts, were held May 9. Burial was in the McRoberts Cemetery.

Born in Joler, Penn., he was a son of the late Raymond Leader and Inez Edwards Chilcote, and a brother of the late Betty Roahback, Joseph Chilcote, and Edward Chilcote. He died May 5 at Pikeville Medical Center.

He was a retired electrical engineer and worked at the former Westinghouse Defense Center, now Northrop Grumman Corporation. He was a Korean War veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, and was a member of the National Rifle Association, the American Legion, and the Millstone Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Judy Rose Chilcote; three sons, Jeffery Chilcote, Summersville, S.C., Earl Watson III, Norman, Okla., and Raymond Elbert Chilcote, McRoberts; 10 grandchildren,

Tiffany, Jeffery II, Jacob, Nathan, Michael, Alyssa, Comille, Ella, Griffin, and Emily; four greatgrandchildren, Cadence, Zander, Seddie, and Nathan; two sisters, Patricia Edwards and Charlotte Paterni, both of Glen Burnie, Md.; and two brothers, Raymond Chilcote, Servena Park, Md., and Bruce Chilcote, Mechanicsburg, Penn.
