Funeral services for John Donald ‘Duck’ Hodges Jr., 64, will be held at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday), December 12, at Polly & Craft Funeral Home in Jenkins. Burial will be Whitaker Cemetery.
He died December 10 at his home at Payne Gap.
Born in Jenkins to the late John Hodges Sr. and Ruth Nadine Belcher Hodges, he was a grandfather of the late Kelsey Ray Haley, and a brother of the late Nancy Hodges.
He was a lifelong resident of the Payne Gap community, and was retired from Bizzack Construction Company where he had worked as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the United Steel Workers of America, Local #14581.
Surviving are his wife, Paula Johnson Hodges; three daughters, Ruth Inez Hodges Breeding and husband Ernie of Isom, Debra Marcille Hodges Taylor and husband Robbie of Jefferson City, Tenn., and Sandra Donelle Hodges Hayley and husband Jared of Whitesburg; seven grandchildren, Johnanthan, Kayse, Ashley, Brittany, Madison, Kensley and Emilee; a great-grandson, Jaxon; and a sister, Mary Louise Bevins and husband the Rev. Hollis Bevins, Pound, Va.
