Johnny Ray Mullins dies at 55



Johnny Ray Mullins, 55, of Payne Gap, died May 4 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.

A son of Leanza Mullins of Jenkins and the late Cody Mullins, he was a deacon of the Burdine Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of the Jenkins Masonic Lodge # 856 F& AM, and current secretary and past president of the Elkhorn Shrine Club of Jenkins.

He was a past member of the Fraternal Order of Police, a volunteer fireman for the Jenkins Volunteer Fire Department, and an honorary Kentucky Colonel.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife of 34 years, Sherry Lynn Mullins; three brothers, Dairl Mullins and wife Diana, Arizona, Bobby Mullins and wife Linda and Wendall Mullins and wife Sherry, all of Jenkins; three sisters, Shirlene Wood and husband Bill, Ohio, Josephine Crace, Jenkins, and Shelia Adams and husband Jim, Isom; mother-in-law, Jeanette Bentley, Payne Gap; two brothers-in-law, Greg Bentley and wife Lynn, and Keith Bentley and wife Tonya; and niece, Keiley Shayelle Bentley.

Funeral services were held May 7 at Burdine Freewill Baptist Church. Burial was in Jenkins-Payne Gap Cemetery.
