Benjamin ‘Benny’ Johnson, 76, died December 8 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital.
Born at Jackhorn, he was a son of the late Benjamin Johnson and Nannie Quillen, and the widower of Audrey Cook Johnson. He was a brother of the late Ed Johnson, Bernice Johnson, and Ava Peterson.
He enjoyed Kentucky basketball, the Cincinnati Reds baseball team, the Fleming-Neon Pirates, drawing, and classical and jazz music.
Surviving are two sons, Benjamin Johnson, Deane, and Mark Johnson, Hardy; a daughter, Michelle Parrott, Cleveland, Tenn.; a brother, Nerlain Johnson, Cass City, Mich.; a sister, Vay Wood, Detroit, Mich.; and two grandchildren, Megan Blair, Sevierville, Tenn., and Bhrett Lauren Johnson, Hardy.
Memorial services were held December 12 at Deane Baptist Church. Burial was in Deane Baptist Church Cemetery.
Everidge Funeral Home of Whitesburg had charge of arrangements.
