Joseph Eversole succumbs at 76

Funeral services for Joseph Edwin “Joe Eddie” Eversole, 76, were held November 25, at Polly & Craft Funeral Home of Jenkins. Burial was in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.

Born in Jenkins to the late Joe C. and Mary Elizabeth Christopher Eversole, he died November 21 at his home in Jenkins.

Mr. Eversole was proprietor of the Jenkins Cavalier Drug Store for over 60 years, and was a member of the Jenkins United Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Jenkins Masonic Lodge #856 for over 50 years, and a member of the Jenkins York Rite.

The owner of a world champion three- gated horse, he enjoyed showing American saddlebred horses.

Surviving are his wife, Joe Ann Eversole; a son, Joe Scott Eversole of Lexington; two granddaughters, Chloe and Sophia Eversole; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Bates and wife Judi of Lexington, and Don Bates and wife Debbie of Sun Rise Beach, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Jenkins Volunteer Fire Department.
