Joseph Goode III dies at 66


Joseph William Goode III, 66, of Alpharetta, Ga., died October 17.

The son of the late Joseph William Goode II and Pearl Goode of Neon, he was also preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Thomas Urban Urbanic.

Mr. Goode was a longtime member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Duluth, Ga., and more recently attended First Baptist Church in Atlanta, Ga.

He was the founder and owner of NextGen Avionics and LogiCircuit. He was a pioneer of avionic electronics, holding nine patents for cockpit displays, which have been used in many military aircraft, including the C-130, Apache Helicopter, and more recently the F-35 JSF.

Mr. Polly was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with his sons and grandchildren. He loved traveling and vacationing with his family. While with his family, he also treasured playing board games, card games, and riding bikes with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shearer Kay Goode; his sister, Adrienne Lee Urbanic; three sons, Joe Goode IV and wife Laura, David Goode and wife Jennifer, and Andrew Goode and wife Charissa; and 10 grandchildren, Jace, Kellan, Reece, Weston, Carolyn, Mollie, Elizabeth, Luke, Piper, and Rebecca.

A private graveside service for Mr. Goode was held at Sawnee View Gardens on October 21.
