Joseph “Joe” Sturgill, 66, of Pert Creek, died September 9 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.
A son of the late Arthur Sturgill and Maxeline Sandlin Sturgill, he was preceded in death by several siblings.
He enjoyed camping, front porch sitting, and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Sherry Hollon Sturgill; three sons, Billy Joe Sturgill of Mayking, and Gabriel Coate and Devon Blair, both of Pert Creek; three daughters, Michelle Quillen of Payne Gap, and Danielle Sturgill and Tyra Carter, both of Pert Creek; a brother, Dan Sturgill of Tiffin, Oh.; two sisters, Mary Jane Clark of Tennessee, and Armilda Hall of Tiffin, Oh.; four grandchildren, Morgan, Billy Joe II, Meghan and Michael; and five great-grandchildren, Stormie, Avery, Exavier, Aleigha, and Miah.
Funeral services for Mr. Sturgill were held September 13 at Everidge Funeral Home of Whitesburg. Burial was in Green Acres Cemetery at Ermine.
