Sorry I didn’t write last week and seem to be running close to my deadline this week.
We were sad to learn that Reathie LeBlanc died recently. We had gotten to know her while she had been at Letcher Manor Nursing Home, and she was quite a character, always jolly and happy to talk with.
She was buried on Blair Branch beside her first husband, Greenie Blair. Our sympathy to her sisters and nieces and nephews.
Joyce Blair of Burgey’s Creek in Knott County also died. She was the widow of Mannon Blair and both she and Reathie were sisters-inlaw to Mary Helen Blair.
Joyce Adams is home after spending over a week in the Hazard hospital. They first thought she was having mini strokes, but I’m not sure what they finally diagnosed her with. But she’s home now and doing better.
Also, I hope Lester Blair, Ellis Adams and Van Blair are felling better, and Billy Winstead and Merle Caudill, too.
Did anyone else happen to see the strange railroad cars that went up a couple of weeks ago ‘sanding the rails?’ They were all lit up and had sparks flying in all directions, and then those with water tanks were spraying to cool the tracks down and watering down the sparks. It was very interesting to see.
Our sympathy to the family of Oneal Maggard, who died recently. Bill Maggard of Sycamore Loop is his brother.
Saturday, Bob and I and Coreen and Don Pridemore took our Ranger and drove through Pratt Fork, Tolson Creek, and out by Whitaker Branch and Big Branch, and came back across Bee Tree to Blair Branch. It was a nice day to be out; not too hot, and we didn’t get rained on.
This weekend is Blair Branch Church time.
Geraldine Ison had surgery last week, but got out the next day. Rodney had the family checking on her, and he and Nellie and Beth spent a couple of days helping out. She was sore, but getting along pretty well.
Lyndci and Sadie Gilliam spent a few days at Jerry and Bonita Adams’s on Blair Branch. We all enjoy seeing little Sadie and Lyndci. Babies seem to grow and learn little things almost daily. She cut her first tooth while here, and can roll around pretty good.
Sorry my time has run out. Maybe I’ll have more next week.
Since I wrote last, Layla and Jacquie Caudill and Ed Banks have all had birthdays.
