Hello to all, hope you’ve had a great week. I have, as I’ve talked to all my family this past week, and my daughter is doing lots better. She’s back at work.

Lots of you have asked about her and I really appreciate that.

Well, Oma Hatton came to be with us three days last week and she told us she was good for nothing. She couldn’t even wash dishes and chew chewing gum at the same time. I’ll say that she chewed the gum and let the dishes go. What do you all think?

We all love you, Oma, and are glad to have you.

Joyce Vermillion gave me the news about her trip to Alaska, Aug. 13. Oh boy, was that a bad luck day? She was on a ship from Seattle, Wash., and on the 14th too.

The 15th, she arrived at Juneau, Alaska, then from there, on to Hubbard Glacier, and the next day to Sitha, and Kelcheka. Aug. 19, to Victoria British Columbia, and Friday, Aug. 20, back to Seattle, Wash. She was gone seven days.

ALASKAN SCENE — Joyce Vermillion recently returned from a visit to Alaska. She brought rocks for Lizzie M. Wright, who collects them, from Chilkoot.

What a trip, and the places and things she saw. I know she had a marvelous time.

Junior Kuracka brought us tomatoes, sweet peppers, and banana peppers, and they were ever so good. Thanks, Junior and Lorraine, we really do appreciate them. I know I do. Garden vegetables are lots better than the ones from the store.

Ermine Center turned in to the food fund for the month of August, $259.

We didn’t do a lot last week. Vina Lucas didn’t get to quilt last week, as her daughter Joella and husband Scott came up from Lexington to visit for a few days. But some of the ladies quilted. They are working on Josephine Spangler’s quilt. It’s going to be real pretty when it’s finished.

Say, have any of you seen a flower called ‘hens and chickens’ bloom? We have one at the center now blooming, and it is beautiful.

Oh yes! We are planning a trip to Kingsport, Tenn., where we’ll shop, then eat, and shop some more until our money gives out. I’ll say our money does before we do, as we go, go, go. We sure have some good times together. We are like one big, happy family.

Oh, by the way, our new lady is Martha Harris, who joined us last Monday, a week ago.

So come on out, you senior citizens, and join our center. You’ll be glad you did.

Talk to you later. God bless until next time.
