Judge Adams announces closing dates for holiday

Anyone who needs to pay a garbage bill in person or see the county judge/ executive won’t be able to do either on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.

Judge/Executive Terry Adams issued an executive order after Christmas closing his office and the Letcher County Sanitation Department Billing Office on December 31 and January 1 for New Year’s. The offices will reopen Thursday, January 2.

Garbage pickup will not be affected by the change. Garbage service will continue all week on its normal schedule.

Adams issued an executive order on December 26 closing the office this week in observance of the holiday. The text of the order is as follows:

“I, Terry Adams, Letcher County Judge/Executive, do hereby close the County Judge’s Office and the Sanitation Billing Office on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 and Wednesday, January 1, 2020. They will re-open on Thursday, January 2, 2020.

Sanitation will be picking up all week.
