Judge orders offices, sanitation service closed

Letcher County Judge/Executive Terry Adams has ordered holiday closings for county offices and garbage pickup service.

All county offices, including the sanitation billing office, will close at 1 p.m. on Monday and will not reopen until Thursday.

Garbage pickup will be suspended for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but will resume on Thursday (Dec. 26) according to regular schedule.

Following is the text of an executive order signed by Judge Adams: “I, Terry Adams, Letcher County Judge/Executive, do hereby close the County Judge’s Office and the Sanitation Billing Office on Monday, December 23 at 1 p.m. and offices will be closed on Tuesday, December 24 and Wednesday, December 25 in observance of Christmas.

“Sanitation will not be running on Tuesday the 24th or Wednesday the 25th. Pickup will resume the following week. The Transfer Station and Letcher County Road Department will also be closed on Tuesday the 24th and Wednesday the 25th. They will re-open on Thursday, December 26.”
