Judy and Astor Fields Jr. mark anniversary

Big Cowan

Hello everyone! Sorry for not putting in news last week. I had the flu during Easter weekend and did not feel like writing anything.

Thanks to the pastor and congregation of the Freewill Baptist Church at Whitco for your prayers and phone calls, and the for gift from my ‘secret sister’ for Easter.

They had a sunrise service on Easter, and then afternoon and evening services, with one person getting saved on Sunday night.

Most of the other churches did not have services, and this girl really wanted to attend church so her parents brought her down there and she got saved before the night was over, praise God! Otherwise, she could have missed her chance.

A late happy birthday to Chris Taylor on April 19, who turned 19, and to Emily Jane McIntosh, who turned 11 on April 11. Late anniversary wishes to Judy and Astor Fields Jr. on April 19. Late happy birthday to Arlen Taylor, who celebrated on April 15.

Hager Trent’s granddaughter, Amber, and her son, Colton, were in an accident last week at Linefork. They were hit by a coal truck. Thank God neither of them was hurt.

Marie Johnson Boyd of Dante, Va., called and asked me about the late Elsie Turner Snell. Marie is formerly of Little Cowan, then moved to Marlowe before moving to Virginia.

Marie said that she enjoys reading The Mountain Eagle. She is 76 years old. She said two of her sons died last year, in August and September. She has a grandson, Eric, who is in need of prayer. The Lord knows his need.

She seems like a really nice lady, and I enjoyed talking to her.

Anna Lou (Maggard) Combs and Michael Combs have both been in the hospital and are in need of prayer.

Delzie Banks was home over the weekend visiting his friends Archie Fields, Charles Miles, Bear Dobson, Tommy Fields, and my son, Mike. He hung out with them and also Jim Howard Banks, and also visited the old homeplace.

Archie Fields has been dryland fishing, and said that as soon as I get over this laryngitis that he will bring me a mess. I am looking forward to trying them.

A late happy birthday to Bill King, who celebrated on April 6, and happy anniversary to Charles and Shirley Day, who were married 52 years on April 19.

Hopefully everyone had a good weekend. Attend the church of your choice this week.

Until next time!
