Jury indicts 8





The Letcher County Grand Jury has named eight people in indictments, including five men charged with bail jumping.

The indictments are:

• Thomas Neneveh Yonts — speeding, reckless driving, operating a vehicle with a suspended license, fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment, and being a persistent felony offender.

The grand jury says Yonts, 34, of 288 Highland Branch, Cromona, was speeding in excess of 26 miles per hour, and driving without regard for pedestrians and other vehicles on April 23, 2009. He is accused of disobeying a direction by a police officer to stop his vehicle, and with creating a substantial danger of death or serious injury to a male juvenile who was a passenger in the car during a high speed chase through Neon.

• Michael Lee Arnett — trafficking in a controlled substance (hydrocodone), use or possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication, tampering with physical evi dence, and being a persistent felony offender.

The indictment charges Arnett, 36, of 515 Goose Creek Road, Neon, with trafficking in hydrocodone to Harold Ray Ducker on April 10, 2009. The grand jury says he had a CD case upon which to crush the hydrocodone and a rolled $50 bill used to inhale the drug. He is also accused of attempting to conceal or destroy the bottle containing the remaining hydrocodone.

Fleming-Neon Police Chief Henry Day testified in the case.

• Harold Ray Ducker — possession of a controlled substance (hydrocodone), use or possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication, and tampering with physical evidence.

The indictment charges Ducker, 39, of 53 Bob White Drive, Seco, with possessing hydrocodone on April 10, 2009. The grand jury says he had a CD case upon which to crush the hydrocodone and a rolled $50 bill used to inhale the drug. He is also accused of destroying physical evidence.

• Randal D. Bennett — two counts bail jumping and being a persistent felony offender.

The indictment charges Bennett, 44, of Box 155, Combs, with two counts of bail jumping, the first on August 1 when he failed to appear at a settlement conference and the second on August 27 when he failed to appear at a pretrial conference, both in connection with felony charges.

• James Lynam — bail jumping.

The grand jury charges Lynam, 32, of 151 Spring Branch Road, Jeremiah, with failing to appear for a court hearing on February 25.

• William Sizemore. — bail jumping.

The grand jury charges Sizemore, 36, of 71 Noah Sizemore Hill Lot #4, Pikeville, with failing to appear for a court hearing on November 29, 2007.

• Patrick Childers— bail jumping and being a persistent felony offender.

The grand jury charges Childers, 34, of 125 Perry Avenue, Hazard, with failing to appear for a court hearing on February 25, 2009.

• James Collins III— bail jumping.

The grand jury charges Collins, 32, of 64 Licking Branch Road, Ermine, with failing to appear for a court hearing on November 29, 2007.
