Jury names 13 in latest indictments


A Jenkins couple is charged by the Letcher Grand Jury with first-degree sexual abuse of a child less than 16 years old.

Donny R. Sexton, 35, and Sandra “Sandy” Sexton, 29, of 64 Straight Row, are named in separate indictments, accused of sexual abuse of a female minor. They are each also charged with first-degree criminal complicity to unlawful transaction with a minor.

Captain Bert Slone of the Letcher County Sheriff ’s Office testified in the cases.

Others indicted are:

• Kori Ryne Standifur, 28, of 11450 Bluebird Dr., Pound, Va., is accused of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, seconddegree criminal possession of a controlled substance (non opiate – Suboxone), first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (opiate – Percocet), criminal possession/ use of drug paraphernalia, criminal possession of marijuana, public intoxication (excludes alcohol), prescription drug not in proper container, trafficking in marijuana (over eight ounces but less than five pounds), tampering with physical evidence, and being a persistent felony offender.

Former Jenkins Police Officer Michael Garner, now employed at the Pound, Va., Police Department, testified in the case.

• Steve Eric Addington, 39, of 45 Little Oak St., Jenkins, is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree trafficking in a con- trolled substance (20 or more dosage units, Schedule III non-narcotic buprenorphine) with firearm enhancement, possession/ use of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication (excludes alcohol), prescription drug not in proper container, trafficking in marijuana (less than eight ounces) with firearm enhancement, and criminal possession of marijuana.

Former Jenkins Police Officer Michael Garner, now employed at the Pound, Va., Police Department, testified in the case.

• Franklin W. Bentley, 55, of 21 B Ball Dr., McRoberts, is charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (first offense, methamphetamine), convicted felon in possession of a firearm, possession of defaced firearm, public intoxication (controlled substance, excludes alcohol), and third-degree criminal trespassing.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Wade Adams testified in the case.

• Tiwena N. Cornett, 32, of 295 Hwy. 3408, Blackey, is accused of criminal possession of a forged prescription (first offense), forgery of a prescription for a Legend Drug (first offense), and being a persistent felony offender.

• Tyler Newsome, 24, of 160 Happy Hollow, Jenkins, is charged with torture of a dog/cat with serious physical injury or death and being a persistent felony offender.

Newsome is accused of torturing a dog belonging to Vivian Hall, resulting in the dog’s death on Dec. 22.

Vivian Hall testified in the case.

• Christopher Allen Bates, 28, of 188 Sergent Rd., Whitesburg, is accused of theft by failure to make required disposition of property ($500 or more).

Bates is charged with obtaining a 50-inch Sony television, Xbox 360, 32-inch Vizio television, 42-inch television, PlayStation, H.P. laptop, 32-inch LED television, and 50-inch television from Pine Mountain Rent to Own and failing to make specified payments.

Jeff Mullins of Pine Mountain Rent to Own testified in the case.

• Jimmy Edward Huston, 45, of 290 Hogg Hollow, Neon, is charged with criminal conspiracy to theft by unlawful taking (auto).

Huston is accused of acting with Jamie Looney in taking a 99 Ford 250 belonging to Tim Seals.

Tim Seals testified in the case.

• Jamie S. Looney, 42, of 746 Sergent Loop, Mayking, is charged with criminal conspiracy to theft by unlawful taking (auto).

Looney is accused of acting with Jimmy Edward Huston in taking a 99 Ford 250 belonging to Tim Seals.

Tim Seals testified in the case.

• Ashley Halcomb, 34, of 13766 Hwy. 1103, Linefork, is charged with first-degree bail jumping and being a persistent felony offender.

Halcomb failed to appear at a pre-trial conference on June 20 in connection with a charge of having committed a felony.

Deputy Clerk Sandra Wright of the Letcher Circuit Clerk’s Office testified in the case.

• April Brock, 29, of 7924 Hwy. 119 S, Eolia, is charged with first-degree bail jumping.

Brock failed to appear at a pre-trial conference on June 27 in connection with a charge of having committed a felony.

Deputy Clerk Sandra Wright of the Letcher Circuit Clerk’s Office testified in the case.

• Virginia Potter, 34, of 840 Sergent Rd., Whitesburg, is charged with firstdegree bail jumping.

Potter failed to appear at a pre-trial conference on June 27 in connection with a charge of having committed a felony.

Deputy Clerk Sandra Wright of the Letcher Circuit Clerk’s Office testified in the case.
