Police have charged a juvenile with murder after a four-month-old baby boy was found over an embankment Friday morning.
A Kentucky State Police trooper was dispatched to a residence located on Turner Drive, located between Seco and Kona, at 5:16 a.m. after a caller said an infant was missing.
The baby, Blayze Alexander Smith, was found at 6:40 a.m. over an embankment located behind the residence.
Letcher County Coroner Marty Baker pronounced the baby dead at 7 a.m.
The body has been sent to Frankfort for autopsy by the state medical examiner’s office.
As the result of the initial investigation, a juvenile has been charged with one count of murder. The juvenile, who sources familiar with the case say is a 16-year old boy related to the victim, was transported and lodged in the Breathitt County Juvenile Detention Center. Police did not name the juvenile.
