Karli Blair celebrates her 6th birthday


My sympathy to the family of Tommy Halcomb of Carcassone. He died at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital Jan. 7. Tommy had been sick for a long time, and his wife Lorene has been also been having some health problems. Tommy was 87.

Happy birthday to Karli Blair of Dry Fork. She turned 6 on Jan. 8. She celebrated with a Princess party at Fugate’s Skating Rink. She is the daughter of Bill and Brit- tany Blair and has a younger brother, Dylan. And happy birthday to her dad, Bill. His is on Jan. 16.

Congratulations to Kendra and Dustin Hays of Knott County on the birth of their first child. Gracelynn “Gracie” Briar was born on Jan. 4. She weighed a healthy 9 pounds, 10 ounces and was 22 inches long. The grandparents are Joe and Gwen Dixon and Aunt Karee of Elk Creek and Dean and Rhonda and Uncle Nick of Isom. They were living at Blackey but moved into their home they built about the time the baby was born.

The granddaughter of Virgil and Freda Combs of Carcassonne, Mary Isabella Porter, has been in the hospital. She had RSV but is home now and thankfully doing better. She is the daughter of Sara and Chris Porter of Catlettsburg. Mary “Bella” was born on Dec. 21.

Tara Couch of Linefork was in WARH then had to be taken to Lexington. She had a kidney stone. As of Thursday she was doing some better. She is the daughter of Roger and Dena Couch.

Happy birthday to Bill Gibson of Isom. He will be 106 on Jan. 18. He is still in the hospital in Hazard but is doing better and is finally waking up after his surgery.

It was such a tragedy for the family of Mack Blair of Blair Branch. He died in a house fire on Thursday, Jan. 7. My sympathy to all his family. It was very sad. Mack was 68.

Anyone interested in keeping Blackey Day going every year can attend a meeting at the Blackey Library on Tuesday, Jan. 19, starting at 6 p.m. They need new members and all they help they can get.
