Kathie Murrell dies in Indiana




Kathie Laura Riley Murrell died June 16 at her home in North Vernon, Ind. She was 52 years old.

Born at Craft’s Colly, she was a daughter of Lester and Jackie Stallard Riley of North Vernon, Ind. She was a 1973 graduate of Jennings County High School and was valedictorian of her class at Flager Community College in St. Augustine, Fla.

She worked at Muscatatuck State Developmental Center, St. Augustine Center for Living and Program Development and Placement, and was a Mary Kay consultant. After living in Florida for 17 years, she returned to North Vernon in 2000.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband, Michael Murrell; a daughter Chasity Harvey and husband Michael Jr., Madison, Ind.; grandchildren, Caleb and Kaelyn Harvey, both of Madison, Ind.; three sisters, Theresa Gabaree, Salem, Ind.; Valera Schafer, Madison, Ind.; and Peggy Wilson, North Vernon, Ind.; a brother, Jeffery Riley, North Vernon, Ind.; her mother-in-law, Lena Murrell, North Vernon, Ind.; sisters-inlaw, Teresa Riley, Carolyn King, Nikki Murrell, and Pamela Israel; brothers-in-law, Freole Gabaree, Jerry Schafer, Donnie Wilson, James H. Murrell, Billy Wayne Murrell, and Dennis Murrell; nieces, Malisa Higdon, Lindsay Harrison, Kristin Panning, Jennifer Hill, Leslie Wilson, and LaKeisha Madden; and nephews, Christopher Wilson, Brian Schafer, Justin Cline, and Robbie Madden.
