Kincer plays in All Star event

Letcher County Central High School senior Sharaye Kincer, the 14th Region Player of the Year, participated in the Kentucky Association of Basketball Coaches’ Senior All Star Game. The event was held March 14 at Warren Central High School in Bowling Green.

Kincer’s team lost 67-66 as Demi Wendt of Daviess County hit three free throws with four seconds left in the game. Kincer led the East team in rebounds, steals, and deflections and scored two points while holding Ashley Rainey, leading candidate for Kentucky Miss Basketball, in check most of the game.

Kincer’s team fell behind 15-2 early in the game and came roaring back late in the second half to take a two point lead. About 30 people from Letcher County traveled to the all star game in support of Kincer.

On March 13, Kincer was honored at a reception held at Western Kentucky University’s Downey Center for being selected the KABC Player of the Year. She and other regional KABC players were later introduced during a Sweet Sixteen game between Simon Kenton and Casey County, where Kincer was awarded a plague honoring her achievements.
