Officials in Knott County have appointed a new leader after the former one was removed from office.
County officials chose Magistrate Jamie Mosley to take the role of judgeexecutive in a 3-1 vote on Monday, three days after Randy Thompson was removed from the position by Judge John David Caudill.
Thompson was convicted of conspiring to buy votes and began serving a 40-month prison sentence in December.
Mosley will hold the position until the governor makes an appointment, which is likely to occur within two weeks.
Mosley said the only no vote came from a magistrate who has supported Thompson.
