The Jenkins Lady Cavs improved their season mark to 5-1 after defeating the visiting Harlan County Lady Bears on March 27, 6-3.
The Lady Cavs got the scoring started in the bottom of the fourth inning when Whitney Creech got a walk, stole second and third and scored on a fielder’s choice by Melissa Bartley. Harlan made three errors in the inning, letting Charity Niece and Caitlynn Estevez add two runs to make the score 3-0.
In the fifth, the Lady Cavs loaded the bases on a single from Lexi Stambaugh, and two back-to-back walks for Whitney Creech and Melissa Bartley. Caitlynn Estevez hit a sac fly to right to bring in Stambaugh, and Charity Niece cleared the bases with a double to left, making the score 6-0 after five innings.
In the sixth inning, Harlan’s Stittums singled, followed by a single from Clark, and both runners advanced on a double steal and Stittums scored on Sergent’s fielder’s choice. Clark scored on King’s double to left center, King then scored on a single by Harris, cutting Jenkins’s lead 6-3.
Harlan made another threat in the seventh when Stittums doubled and Clark walked, but the Jenkins defense shut them down and held on to the 6-3 win.
Caitlynn Estevez picked up the win on 3 runs, 5 hits, 4 walks, and 5 strikeouts. Harlan’s Jenkins gave up 6 runs on 6 hits, 3 walks and 6 strikeouts.

On March 24, the Jenkins Lady Cavaliers picked up their fourth win against district opponent Knott County Central. The Lady Cavs put four runs on the board in the first inning and 11 runs in the second inning to mercy KCC 15-0 in three innings. Jenkins pounded out eight hits.
