The Letcher Central Lady Cougars began last week’s action with a 70-20 victory at Cordia on Jan. 30, before dropping a pair of games on the road at Hazard, 65- 46, on Jan. 31, and 67-52 at Knott County Central on Feb. 2, to lower their record to 11-12.
The Lady Cougars’ final four regular season games are all on the road against the three top teams in the 15th Region — at 20-4 Shelby Valley on Feb. 10, at 18-5 Pike County Central on Feb. 13, and at 17-6 Pikeville on Feb. 15. The Lady Cougars close out their season at home on Feb. 17 against 6-17 Jenkins.
With the victory, the Knott County Central Lady Patriots, 15-8 overall, completed their district schedule with a 6-0 mark and will be the number one seed in the 53rd District tournament, hosted by Letcher County Central the week of Feb. 19.
The 11-12 Lady Cougars finished with a 4-2 district record and will be the second seed in the upcoming 53rd District tournament.
Cordia and June Buchanan will meet twice this weekend to determine the number 3 and 4 seeds.
The girls’ 14th Region tournament will be hosted by Estill County High School the week of Feb. 26.
The girls’ Sweet Sixteen begins on March 14 at Northern Kentucky University.
