The Letcher County Central Lady Cougars won two games and lost one last week, leaving them with seven wins and six losses on a season that still has a little left than one month remaining.
The Lady Cougars defeated visiting Lawrence County last Wednesday, 71 to 54, before traveling to Cordia the next night to defeat the Lady Lions, 71 to 26. LCC returned home February 6 to lose a close one to Harlan County, 48 to 47.
The Lady Cougars are scheduled to host Pikeville on Friday and will welcome Pike County Central Monday (February 15).
Kaylee Banks (12) led LCC in the win over Lawrence County with 24 points. Loren Boggs scored 13, Brooke Bates had 10 points, and Keira Couch scored nine points. Tori Holcomb contributed seven points, Jaylin Whitt scored four points, and Farrah Combs and Kaylee Banks (25) finished with two points each. Kaylee Banks led the team in rebounding for the game with seven.
Ten Lady Cougars scored in the win over Cordia, with Keira Couch’s 10 points leading the way. Kaylee Banks (12) tossed in nine points during that contest, while Farrah Combs and Kyleigh Wright each scored eight points. Tossing in seven points apiece were Tori Holcomb, Loren Boggs, and Brook Bates. Bailey Kincer and Kaylee Banks (25) each scored six points, and Sydney Craft scored three points. Bailey Kincer pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
LCC lost to Harlan County despite a 20-point and 13-rebound effort by Kaylee Banks (12), who led her team in each category. Tori Holcomb put 11 points through the nets and Loren Boggs had nine points. Scoring two points apiece were Brooke Bates, Jaylin Whitt, and Kaylee Banks (25). Keira Couch rounded out the scoring with one point.
