Lady Cougars win

The Jenkins Lady Cavaliers visited Letcher County Central High School for an in-county volleyball match-up on August 27. The Lady Cougars came away with their eighth straight victory, 2-0 (25-12, 25-5).

In the first set, senior Victoria Halcomb scored seven points serving in leading the Lady Cougars to victory. She also did a good job with her hard hitting along with junior Myrika Begley. Senior Brittany Sexton did a good job spiking the ball and she made some nice blocks around the net. Junior Lisa Frazier also made some nice spikes.

In the second set, Letcher Central jumped out to a 8-0 lead due to the serving of sophomore Janetta Dixon. This was supported by sister, sophomore Sierra Dixon, who scored 5 points serving. Brittany Sexton, Lisa Frazier, and Victoria Halcomb all had another good set hitting the ball. Myrika Begley did a good job with hitting and net play. Sophomore Erica Meade had another good performance with her hits around the net.
