Larges marking 44th anniversary

Big Cowan

Hello everyone! This has been a very good weekend.

James and I went out Saturday and got the oil changed in the truck, then drove over to the Gingerbread Festival. Saw my nephew, Thomas Wolfe, then we drove to the Amish Store.

On our way home, our son Mike called and said that our granddaughters, Ashley and Michaela, and a friend of Ashley’s, Hanna, were at our house. We were surprised, because we did not think they would be here. Later, we all went to eat at Pine Mountain Grill. They had to leave Sunday morning. Sure was good to see them. Miss them already.

In memory this week: Mary Ann Brock Maggard would have been 77 on Sept. 14. She is missed by all who knew her.

Happy birthday to my brother-in-law Simpson — I mean Eddie Wolfe. He will be 57 on Sept. 15. We love you, Eddie.

Happy birthday to Glenda Younce Helton. She will be 62 on Sept. 15. Love you, girl, and hope you have a great day.

Lisa Baker Boggs has a birthday on Sept. 16, and Charles and Pat Large will celebrate their 44th wedding anniversary on Sept. 16. Congratulations to them, and happy birthday, Lisa.

Allysa Nicely will be seven years old on Sept. 17. Happy birthday, sweetie. She is a granddaughter of Wayne and Tammy Turner. They sure are glad that their daughter Melissa and their grandkids moved back here from Texas.

Also, a very happy birthday to Adron Michael Roberts. He will be five years old on Sept. 17. He is a grandson of Ruby Lewis.

Everyone on Cowan seems to be doing pretty well health-wise so far.

Marie Johnson Boyd of Dante, Va., needs our prayers. She is having a rough time. She is formerly of Little Cowan.

Also on the prayer list is Brenda Johns Howard.

We went to visit my brother Archie the other day. He is doing fair. He had received some pictures from his friend Patty that she had taken the last time she visited. Some of the pictures were of her, her husband and son, and there was a real good picture of Archie when he had taken them mushroom hunting.

Brought back some good memories for Archie. He misses being able to go looking for mushrooms and ginseng.

Lots of people turned out for the car show burnouts. Too loud for me, so I didn’t go, but we passed by Food City and heard some of them on Saturday night. I would hate to buy tires for them.

Well, I am going to go for now. Hoping all have a good week. Attend the church of your choice, and may God bless you.
